Thank you for this history and photos. Your observation about Norfolk being quite the dullard unappreciative of the gardens and books, especially as you described what he was missing.

Thank you!

I gave up on Norfolk at that point in the book, haha. He is in such contrast to Cromwell who is interesting in everything.

Thank you again for all the interesting observations, I find I am now having much more of an eye for the meals when I am reading. A lot of the revealing conversations take place while eating--I love the way Hilary does the dialogue.

Thank you! I didn't expect that meals would play much of a role, but throughout the trilogy they are quite interesting. As you wrote a lot of the interesting conversations take place during a meal. I love Mantel's writing, she was brilliant. While reading one feels as if being in the room with them all...

Ha! I couldn't resist either and tried an orange and honey cake. It was very tasty, but wouldn't have found favour with Cromwell! I definitely need to work on the aesthetics... 🫣 Thanks for all the interesting details!

It was irrestible, wasn't it? A orange cake had to be made! I think it was you, that mentionned that the almond cream could be frangipani. I did not know frangipani, but will make one, sounds very good 😊

Thanks for this - These are some of the best parts of the book! How displeasing that Norfolk doesn’t care about the gardens - so many new and interesting plants. If only I had a crew of gardeners and unlimited funds for plants like him
